Privacy policy
Last updated: 2026-05-04. Your privacy matters. This policy explains what personal data we collect in connection with the sightpad website, the macOS menu bar app “sightpad,” and the free iPhone companion “Sightpad Companion,” how we use it, and your choices. The site and downloads are operated for sightpad by Vision Algorithms.
Information we collect
- Payment information (via Stripe). When you purchase a license or subscription, Stripe processes payment. We do not receive or store your full card details. We may receive limited information from Stripe such as your email, transaction identifiers, and payment status.
-
Email address. We may obtain your email from Stripe to fulfill your purchase or support
requests. If you contact us or use the early-access flow on this site (currently a
mailto:hand-off to support@sightpad.app), your email is transmitted through your mail provider and ours; we use it only to respond and to manage access you asked for. - License validation (Keyforge). The Mac app validates licenses over HTTPS with Keyforge. That exchange sends licensing-related identifiers needed to activate and enforce entitlements (for example license key and device-scoped identifiers), not gaze or camera data.
- Software updates (Sparkle). The Mac app may check a public appcast URL we host for new versions. That is a normal update check, not behavioral tracking.
- Server / CDN logs. Our hosting provider may log minimal technical information (for example IP address and request metadata) when you load pages or download the installer. We use that only to operate and protect the service.
- Gaze and calibration stay on your devices. Face and gaze estimation run on the iPhone. The Mac receives compact gaze and pose samples over your local Bluetooth or LAN link, not camera frames. Calibration data is stored locally on your Mac. We do not receive those streams on our servers.
- No in-app product analytics. Sightpad does not ship third-party analytics SDKs for usage or advertising. See also our technical privacy notes.
How we use information
- Process purchases and deliver license keys or access instructions.
- Validate licenses and provide software updates.
- Provide customer support and respond to inquiries.
- Operate, secure, and improve the website, downloads, and related services.
Service providers
We use trusted third-party services solely to operate sightpad:
- Stripe for payments — stripe.com/privacy.
- Keyforge for license issuance and validation (macOS app).
- Hosting / CDN for the website and installer downloads (for example Netlify or a comparable provider). Providers may change over time; we limit data shared to what is necessary.
Cookies and tracking
We do not use advertising or audience analytics trackers on this site. Essential cookies or similar mechanisms may be used by the hosting platform to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
Data retention
We retain personal data only as long as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. Payment records are retained as required for accounting and fraud prevention. Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to help you.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise rights or make a request, contact us at support@sightpad.app.
Children
Sightpad is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy as our products or providers change. We will post the new version here with an updated date.
